Having spent time with thought leaders in many parts of the world, from Ervin Laszlo in Tuscany to the folks at ITPI and IONS in California, I have seen and felt the movement toward Planetary Awakening grow and gain traction. People have been speaking of the shift toward transformation for some time now, but witnessing the exemplary work, research, and innovative efforts now taking place shows how near we are to a new reality. Transformation has begun, and an awakened planet is on its heels.
On our path to planetary awakening, the study of consciousness provides a clear and guiding light. Until recently, the accepted viewpoint of science and spirituality has been that they are inarguably separate entities. Science (the “material”) has been accepted as more valuable, and more legitimate, than spirituality (the “immaterial”). It is taught that all life arose from the material. Now, with such advancements as Federico Faggin’s work with Unified Field Theory, the mainstream world can begin to see that, on the contrary, it is the immaterial that is of paramount importance. It is consciousness from which we originated, and the evolution of and in consciousness that will lead us in awakening.
This has been made especially evident to me through gatherings like the 16th International IONS Conference. In witnessing the energy and accomplishment of this group, with Barbara Marx Hubbard’s careful cultivation of transformative movements; Cassandra Vieten’s and IONS’ steadfast dedication to their projects ; and others, the merging of the material and immaterial—the interweaving of science and spirit—becomes palpable.
The recognition of and desire for this great shift is apparent in the many communities, movements, and initiatives that have grown around it. So many of us, worldwide, are working to bring about positive change and social transformation. Within our Global Purpose community, let us connect and convene these conscious change makers, activists, teachers, and thought leaders. Let’s leave the material focus behind, and continue moving into a world that is alive with compassion, collaboration, and cooperation. This shift from material science to consciousness calls for holistic action toward change—intellectually and socially, for the greater good. This is where the Planetary Awakening begins.
