My name is Brandon Peele and I’m a Certified Purpose Guide. I help people find their life’s purpose. Recently, Alison Lessard and I sat down for “The Awakening Man” interview series and talked about men and their purpose. We wondered why the purpose question weighs so heavily on men specifically. Here’s what we found:
- Men are being called to redefine their gender. With men’s economic prospects declining and with sexism, patriarchy and rape culture front page news nearly every day, men are in an identity crisis. The only way through this storm of gender power dynamics and women’s rights shaking up the culture and economy is for a man to step right into his purpose, to lead and stand firm in his power and potency.
- Men are needed to lead. This is an all hands on deck moment for species and it is time for all men (and women) to step up. We’ve got big problems in politics, our economy, the environment and in society. A man’s purpose is his response to what’s not working, as well as his answer to what women want and how to provide that.
- Men have shame around not knowing their purpose. They feel like they should know it and do one of three things. They fake it, they make themselves wrong for not knowing it, or they deny that it and the whole body of research behind it exists.
